Secrets To Looking & Feeling Younger: Boost Your Sleep

July 6, 2008

This is one article in a 10 part series on how to look and feel younger naturally. This article reveals just how important sleep is for keeping us young and active on both the inside and the outside.

A good night’s sleep makes you feel alive and alert the next day. It energises you and means you’re more active the next day. By staying active you are preventing the aging process from infiltrating your body.

Research has shown that people who sleep less than seven hours per night are more likely to be overweight. It is believed that the lack of sleep impacts the balance of hormones in the body that affect appetite. Being overweight is one way to look and feel considerably older than you are.

Depression is also more common in those who get fewer than seven hours sleep per night. Sleep impacts the chemical serotonin and people with a defficiency in this chemical are more likely to suffer from depression. Depression is one way to make you feel a lot older than you really are.

Sleep also helps the body make repairs to damage caused by harmful exposures, such as ultraviolet rays. UV rays damage the skin and contribute to the aging process. Adequate sleep can reduce the aging process.

So, how can we get more sleep?

Set a regular bedtime is the first thing you should do. By going to bed at the same time every night signals to your brain that it’s time to sleep.

Stay active during the day - but not right before bed. If you’re busy throughout the day and moving around a lot then it tires out your body enabling you to sleep more.

Avoid stimulants such as caffeine which can be found in fizzy drinks and coffee as well as energy drinks. Nicotine is also a stimulant so try to quit smoking (see part 3) and alcohol in the evening causes a person to become restless and wake up during the night.

Before going to bed try to relax your mind. Avoid violent or scary movies in the evenings. Reading a book can help the mind to relax and soft, relaxing music may help.

Create the right sleep environment to promote better sleep. Research has shown that people sleep best in a dark room that is fairly cool. Keep a window open to keep a constant flow of air and keep the noise levels down.

If you’re tired, it’s hard to look and feel your best. Sleep is vital for the everyday functioning of our body, make sure you get enough of it.

Secrets To Looking & Feeling Younger: Banish Bad Habits

July 5, 2008

This is one article in a 10 part series on how to look and feel younger naturally. This article reveals how stopping the bad habit of smoking can severely slow down the aging process and leave you looking and feeling healthier and younger.

There are many bad habits which contribute to aging you on the inside and the outside. The main one is smoking. In order to slow down the aging process, smoking needs to be stopped. Let’s look at the consequences of it.

Smoking is a major cause of skin damage and speeds up the formation of wrinkles and other unattractive features. A “smokers face” is often described as gray, pale and wrinkled. Smoking restricts blood flow to the capillaries preventing oxygen and nutrients getting to the skin. Smoking also boosts the supply of an enzyme which breaks down the collagen stores in the skin. Collagen is responsible for retaining the skin’s elasticity.

Smoking has a profound effect on aging us on the outside, but it is also responsible for aging the way we feel. Smoking is responsible for both cardiovascular difficulties and respiratory difficulties. It is also a leading cause of cancer. In order to look and feel younger smoking has to be stopped.

So, how do we do this?

Firstly, you need to prepare to quit. You need to set a date to quit, you need to tell others of your goal and remove all tobacco products from your home.

Once you’ve began to quit, you’ll need to learn to manage the cravings. When you get a craving take a shower, wash the dishes, have some gum or a piece of fruit, light a candle instead and learn to relax by taking deep breaths. Stay busy and you won’t experience cravings so often.

Your cravings will be triggered by certain things. Learning what these triggers are is important. Once you know what they are you can try to avoid them.

One thing’s for sure. Quitting smoking is not easy, but it can be done. It’s all a matter of will power. Have you got it?

Secrets To Looking & Feeling Younger: Cut The Flab

July 4, 2008

This is one article in a 10 part series on how to look and feel younger naturally. This article reveals how cutting the flab from your body adds years onto your life and slows down the aging process considerably. Also revealed are proven ways to cut the flab quickly, easily and naturally.

Cutting the flab is one excellent way to not only look, but feel younger and healthier too. Getting rid of that excess fat around your chest, waist, butt and thighs will sky-rocket your self image, boost your self confidence and make you look and feel younger and healthier.

Firstly, what are the effects and consequences of being overweight. Reading these, I hope, will give you the motivation to shed those extra pounds.

People who are overweight are:

- more prone to a variety of different cancers, such as breast cancer
- less resistant to harmful organisms and more likely to be ill
- more prone to hypertension and high cholestrol levels

So, what can we do about it?

Firstly, diet is an important factor. Make sure to eat a variety of fresh fruit and vegetables to ensure you get an adequate supply of minerals. Go organic if you can. Consume plenty of fibre and wholegrains. Consume oily fish, such as mackrel for it’s omega 3. Consume tamarind fruit, green tea, dry nettle leaf and apple cider vinegar. All four speed up the fat burning process.

Secondly, exercise! I know you hate it, so we’ll change the word exercise to ACTIVITY. You don’t need to do running and swimming to lose weight. You don’t need to go to the gym every day to see results. Simply by moving about you are losing weight, whether it’s walking to pick your kids up from school or going shopping, you’re body is working and it’s burning calories. Once you stop being active your body shuts down. Your metabolism decreases and you pile on the pounds much quicker. Don’t let that happen!

Secrets To Looking & Feeling Younger: Banish Negative Thinking

This is one article in a 10 part series on how to look and feel younger naturally. This article focusses on the effects of negative thinking, and how to banish these negative thoughts once and for all to transform your life and make you look and feel younger and healthier in the process.

“If you realized how powerful your thoughts are, you would never think a negative thought.”

I put this at number one because negative thoughts have an impact on every single aspect of your life and contribute to premature aging - on the inside and the outside - more than anything else. Before you do anything, you need to banish negative thinking and embrace positivity.

Here’s a three step process to banish negative thoughts from destroying your life.

- Stop: When you feel the negativity creeping in, just STOP IT! Stop what you’re thinking about.

- Shift attention: Shift your focus from your thoughts and take part in an activity that requires concentration, such as a sporting activity.

- Reward yourself: Acknowledge the progress you make by praising and rewarding yourself.

Simply by recognizing and admitting to yourself that you have negative thoughts (and let’s be honest, we all do!) is the first and most important step on the path to banishing them and winning back your life (and looking and feeling younger).

Take a look at the Power Of Positive Habits book to learn how to re-program your mind to achieve your dreams.

Stay tuned for Part II which reveals how you can Cut The Flab to make yourself look and feel younger.

Plant-based holistic ingredients combined with today’s revolutionary age-defying technology gives us the best products for keeping our eyes younger longer. It’s your best age-defying tactic, so drink up fresh invigorating water daily.

How do you know you need to start using eye cream? You can start at any age, but when you start feeling tightness around the eyes, then there’s dryness that definitely needs to be addressed. And, you can use your regular moisturizer if it contains anti-aging ingredients and sunscreen, but there will come a time when you will need to use both. Read on to learn which anti-aging eye creams and ingredients to look for and use because they are proven to work and do their job thanks to technology.

There’s a natural product that does this while protecting your skin from sun damage. Simply Divine Botanicals’ Pack Your Bags They’re Leaving Instant Gratification Eye Gel blends essential fatty acids with seaweed, cucumber, and essential oils.

To reduce puffiness and for anti-aging
To stimulate collagen synthesis and reduce puffiness, try Derma e Ester-C Firming Eye Creme. Apart from Ester-C, it contains green tea extract. There really are many excellent eye creams that contain vitamin C such as Jason’s and Physician’s Complex. Whichever you choose, you will surely be adding years of vibrancy to your eyes and face.

To plump up fine lines
To plump up fine lines you need hyaluronic acid because it attracts 1,000 times its weight in water. Wow. An excellent product you can try is Chae Organics Vital Eyes. It is toxin-free.

To delete those dark circles
This is not a product in itself, but a makeup beauty tip. Instead of applying a lighter concealor that will make your under eye area look caked use light deflecting mineral powder makeup. The natural shimmer will brighten the eye area and take the attention away from the dark circles.

Remember your number one defense is sound nutrition, and of course, adequate sleep, and proper water hydration. If you have a favorite eye cream product that you know works, please blog in with your comments.

Super Anti-Aging Supplement – A Must Know For Alluring Skin

February 17, 2008

It gives you protective bioflavonoids that fight heart disease, helps you get rid of inflammation, allergies and asthma, and for its super anti-aging effect, it builds your collagen, all the while preventing varicose veins. We could all use a collagen boost, hence the popularity of collagen injections. But with this supplement you can just take a few capsules a day with meals, and be on your way to strength and beauty.

You can certainly live longer and better while appearing more youthful with Pycnogenol. According to Dr. Richard Passwater, author of Pycnogenol: The Super Protector Nutrient, pycnogenol can help protect you from about 80 non-infectious diseases. And, as far as looking good is concerned, since pycnogenol protects elastin and collagen, you can now have better-looking skin. Did I get your attention?

If you don’t believe this, keep in mind that the older we get, the thinner the skin gets. Plus, we lose elasticity and get sagging skin. But for those of us who take care of ourselves and keep on the leading edge of skin care, well-nourished skin will look radiant and youthful.

In a research project, Dr. Jacques Masquellier of Bordeaux University soaked collagen fibers in water while stretching them with a weight. The collagen stayed the same until a pycnogenol solution was added. The pycnogenol caused the collagen to strengthen and get back to its earlier shape. Pycnogenol is like a cosmetic that you can take in a pill.

Pycnogenol is widely used in Europe and is considered to be non-toxic. Gary Null,PhD, author of The Complete Encyclopedia of Natural Healing, recommends for you to take 60 mg of pycnogenol in capsule form daily for beautiful, resilient skin and a healthier anti-aging lifestyle.
