South American and Caribbean women have used mashed bananas for centuries as part of their skin care regime.  Homemade banana face masks provide extreme nourishment that completely transforms your skin leaving it feeling soft and supple while enhancing its natural glow.

Banana contains many beneficial minerals and antioxidants including potassium and magnesium that can help naturally restore the condition of your skin.  Potassium has proven to be extremely effective for treating a range of skin conditions such as warts, psoriasis, acne, and can also help relieve itching, irritation, and swelling from mosquito bites and allergies.

Below are two of my favorite banana face mask recipes that you can make at home in just a few minutes.

Sidenote: If making your own beauty treatments at home is not for you but you want to take advantage of the intense healing properties of banana, then take a look at this tub of Avocado Banana Moisture Mask or this Banana Yogurt Wash Off Mask.

Banana Face Mask For Dry Skin

Combine all ingredients together in a bowl and mash into a creamy paste.  Apply mixture evenly to your face and leave on for approximately 20 minutes.  Rinse off using cool water and pat dry.

Exfoliating Banana & Honey Face Mask

Honey and banana have moisturizing and firming effects on the skin while the wheat germ acts as an exfoliating agent.

  • ½ a banana
  • 1 teaspoon of honey
  • ¼ teaspoon of jojoba oil
  • 1 tablespoon of wheat germ
Mash banana then add jojoba oil and wheat germ, mix ingredients together just enough to combine.  Spread mixture evenly over your face being careful to avoid the eyes, leave on for approximately 10 minutes.  Rinse with warm water and then again with cool water to seal the pores and lock in the nutrients.

These banana face mask recipes are really simple. If you have the ingredients already you can have glowing skin in just half an hour.
